Trading services
We both have some unique skills that can be used as an asset in the marketplace and so do you! For example, Drew has given baseball lessons and Laura has given personal training sessions. We have offered our services for free, for pay, and for trade at times. This Christmas Laura surprised me with an awesome Patagonia down vest that she got as payment for training two co-workers. She loved the experience of training them and I REALLY loved the gift. We have heard of others trading services for gym memberships, produce, meat, gifts, etc. Bartering is a lost art in our culture but it can be a very rewarding asset and set up in an agreement that benefits both parties. A quick google search revealed the website www.u-exchange.com and there are probably many more to choose. Are there any upcoming services that you can creatively establish a relationship to minimize cost and maximize expertise? Tax season is fast upon us and your accountant friend just may be willing to trade you for your dog house building skills!
Three good things to remember about bartering. #1 Trading services with someone in your network will typically produce the most consistant and reliable services. #2 Trading your services is a great way to advertise for yourself and build a greater base of paying clientelle. #3 Time is money so make sure the bartering agreement make sense in your situation.
